ASRC Aerospace provides spacecraft mission operations systems engineering
under the NOAA/NESDIS Office of Satellite Operations for the Geostationary
Environmental Operational Satellite (GOES) and Polar Operational Environmental
Satellite (POES) programs. ASRC is responsible for all phases of the mission
operations life cycle. We provide expertise in spacecraft subsystems and payload
engineering, Image Navigation and Registration, maneuver planning and execution,
contingency plan development and implementation, anomaly detection and
correction, engineering trending, pre-launch and post-launch test planning and
execution, launch and early orbit operations, procedure development, engineering
and operations crew training, simulator development and maintenance, operations
concept development, configuration management, database management, and
engineering documentation.
ASRC provides comprehensive operational support and maximum equipment availability in a real-time network environment. Operations and maintenance functions are required 24 hours a day, 365 days per year. Members of the ASRC O&M team support the users of the equipment and maintain the health and safety of the Tracking and Data Relay Satellite System (TDRSS) constellation. ASRC's technicians and field engineers monitor the status of the real-time and off-line mainframe computer systems, respond to anomalies, mount and dismount tapes, make configuration changes, maintain master and backup copies of application software, and control and operate various peripherals used to support the mainframe and microcomputer systems. ASRC personnel perform daily log archiving, cluster control operations, user account management, configuration changes, anomaly reporting, call-in of engineering support, operations procedure development and documentation of systems hardware and software modifications. We also support and monitor downloading of new software and databases and perform software administrative tasks.
