Congratulations to the ASRC Aerospace Orbiter Thermal Protection System Impact Testing Team!Kennedy Space Center (KSC), September 8, 2005 - The Thermal Protection System (TPS) protects and insulates a body from severe heating encountered during hypersonic flight through a planetary atmosphere. Since TPS is a single point-of-failure subsystem, it is critical and its performance needs to be validated through ground test and analysis. The ASRC Aerospace team, led by Paul Gamble, has been chosen as the CI (Continual Improvement) team to represent KSC in competition with all other NASA Centers. A presentation delivered to the KSC Center Director, KSC Staff and KSC Contractors was well received by all. Good luck to the ASRC team as they move towards the 20th NASA CI Conference in Washington, DC. |
