ASRC Aerospace Scientist Investigating New Spacecraft Propulsion
John Lane, an Applications Scientist with ASRC Aerospace at NASA's Kennedy Space Center, is conducting research on a new concept of spacecraft propultion; an energetic ion beam, with the ion source fixed at the spacecraft starting point. This “ion beam sail” approach could potentially propel spacecraft from the Earth to the Moon and to other inner planets.
